A place for community
The Hive exists to be a “third place” where the Warren County community can gather around shared goals and interests through conversations, reading and education. What’s a “third place”? Third places were coined by urban sociologist Ray Oldenburg as the places outside of work and home where people gather and build community.
So what does that look like in practice?
1. Educational programming, hosted by Working Landscapes (or you!): farmer-to-farmer peer learning; workshops on low-tech topics like canning, beekeeping, and bookbinding; youth education on topics like regenerative agriculture; and more.
2. A potential co-working space offering coffee and snacks, as well as tools for hobbyists and entrepreneurs. If you’re interested in this idea, please fill out our survey below!
3. Space Rental: a place for you to host your event, be it a class, a birthday party or a community convening.
4. Open House Days for information sharing, selling goods as a pop-up, and gathering as a community
5. Shared Use Kitchen: our commercial kitchen space is available for rent so you can get that new business, or one-off project off the ground and into our community. If you’re interested in our Shared Use Community Kitchen, fill out an application below!
